What to expect
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
As writers, we know that holding space for creativity in our busy lives is a gift to ourselves. We’ve learnt that coming together each week is a source of joy and inspiration.
Every Friday morning we set aside an hour to write together – drawing inspiration from art and nature, and exploring new tactics and techniques.
Dip into a session that interests you, sign up for a monthly subscription, or give someone the gift of time in which to dream, think and write.
Pricing: £10 per session, or £35 per month for unlimited sessions.
“Brilliant. It unlocked a long held wish to write – it gave me directions and ideas, and the energy of the group was inspiring.”
Sue (February 2024)

sight
Throughout March, we’re going to be thinking about the senses. How do writers use their eyes? What perspectives do we use? Join us as we delve into some brilliantly visual passages from literature… and write some of our own.
taste
The taste of a cake dipped in tea is, famously, the start of a flood of memories in a novel by Marcel Proust. Some stories describe feasts so vividly they make us hungry. Join us to experiment with the wonderful roles that food and drink can play in our writing.
SMELL
21 March 2025, 7:30am – 8:30am
I love writing that leans into smell: the glorious scents wafting from coffee shops and perfumed wrists, the awful whiffs from rubbish yards or worse… We’ll turn to brilliant writers like Patrick Süskind as we think about how to get smell on the page!
touch
28 March 2025, 7:30am – 8:30am
One of the rarer senses to be focused on in literature, touch can be incredibly powerful on the page. We’ll look at writers who use it beautifully and try out some of their techniques in our own writing.
sound
4 April 2025, 7:30am – 8:30am
Margaret Atwood’s wonderfully funny poem ‘Flatline’ describes old ears as “skull fungus”. This week we’ll be thinking about lyricism and harshness, about echoes and rhythms, about clues and patterns we strain to hear…
